If you’re a Marvel fan, you probably know that the MCU is full of hidden gems. There are some movies that are pretty well-known and beloved by all, but there are also some movies that are just as good but get less attention.
The Incredible Hulk, Ant-Man, and Guardians of the Galaxy fall into this category, they’re great films with lovable characters, engaging storylines and excellent costumes/makeup/special effects.
Marvel knowledge trivia questions can be difficult, and they’re usually full of obscure details. But if you’re a Marvel fan, you know that there are some movies that are just as good as the well-known ones but don’t get much attention.
So if you haven’t seen these yet (or even if you have), go ahead and check them out. You won’t regret it.
1. The Incredible Hulk
The Incredible Hulk is the second film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following Iron Man. It stars Edward Norton as Bruce Banner/The Hulk and Liv Tyler as Betty Ross. This film also features William Hurt as General Thunderbolt Ross and Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/Abomination.
The story follows Dr. Bruce Banner (Edward Norton), who has been staying at a research facility with his mentor, Dr. Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson).
When they are attacked by an experiment gone wrong, it unleashes a monster upon them that turns into The Abomination, a large creature with super strength and invulnerability, and General Thunderbolt Ross’ army is called in to help contain him.
2. Ant-Man
Ant-Man is a fun movie, and it’s not just because of the character’s ability to shrink and grow at will. As an origin story, it tells you everything you need to know about Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), who becomes Ant-Man after he gets stuck in prison after being framed by his partner (Michael Douglas). When Hank Pym (Douglas) asks him to be the new Ant-Man, he agrees but only if he can do it from home while wearing an ankle monitor so that his parole officer doesn’t catch onto what he’s doing. The cast is great, especially Michael Peña as Luis; there’s plenty of action; and the humor lands well enough for me to overlook some of its flaws (like how Hope Van Dyne has no backstory until 2018).
3. Guardians of the Galaxy
The plot: The Guardians of the Galaxy are a ragtag band of heroes in space. Led by Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), they’re trying to stop a powerful villain from destroying the universe. In order to do this, they have to unite with some other groups who have similar goals and fight against Thanos’s army.
The characters: This movie is full of colorful characters like Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), and Groot (Vin Diesel). Each one has its own unique quirks that make them stand out among its peers.
Rocket is sarcastic but also cares deeply about his friends; Gamora is known for being ruthless but also loyal to those who help her; Groot only speaks three words throughout the entire movie (“I am Groot”) but he still manages to come off as incredibly charming anyway; Drax has no sense of humor so his jokes usually fall flat on him but he means well regardless.
The soundtrack: With songs like “Come A Little Bit Closer” by Jay & The Americans used as part of its opening credits sequence, this movie definitely knows how important music can be when telling stories.
Plus there are other great tracks including Cat Stevens’ “Father And Son” playing during key moments later on in the plot which adds even more emotion than already present thanks solely due its inclusion here specifically because both characters share similar traits regarding how much love they feel towards each other despite never meeting face-to-face before tonight.
It’s true though – don’t worry about getting emotional just yet though because we still haven’t gotten halfway through this section yet so let’s keep going until then instead 🙂
In conclusion, these three movies are definitely worth watching. The Incredible Hulk is a gritty origin story that shows how Bruce Banner became the Hulk and how his life spiraled out of control after the incident that turned him into an angry giant.
Ant-Man is a fun superhero movie with great action and humor. And Guardians of the Galaxy is just plain awesome.
